'Christmas Story' Kid Becomes 'Couples' Director

Perhaps my favorite Christmas video of all time is “A Christmas Story”. It brought back a lot of cool
memories for me as a kid seeing my first BB gun under the tree. So many things I am able to relate to in this
film, it's a standard for me every year.
The name Peter Billingsley may not mean anything to you, but back in 1983, the very young Billingsley
played Ralphie Parker in the classic comedy "A Christmas Story." The actor has kept a low profile in his
adult years, but he's buzzing again thanks to a big career move.
This Friday, the guy who helped turn "You'll shoot your eye out" into a household phrase makes his
directorial debut with "Couples Retreat." The film concerns four couples who travel to a tropical island to
work on their relationships. Chaos and hilarity ensues.
The film stars Vince Vaughn, which isn't an insignificant detail -- Billingsley and Vaughn are old friends.
Astute viewers may have recognized Billingsley in some earlier Vaughn flicks including "The Break Up" and
"Four Christmases." (Yes, his hair has gotten darker.) The two actors met back in the '80s while working on
an afterschool special about steroid abuse (they've since joked about that episode on stage).
The film is hoping to make a big splash at the box office and when you're the guy behind the camera, that's
really all you can ask for (aside from an official Red Ryder carbine-action -- oh, nevermind).

2012
Director: Roland Emmerich
Distributor: Sony Pictures/Columbia
Starring: John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor

The biggest question that goes unanswered the most is, "What If”? Natural disasters plague the planet and
have so for thousands, perhaps millions of years. But somehow, life seems to survive. Our ancient
ancestors were the forefathers of science, astronomy, math, and were able to predict certain events in their/
our future. One is based on the Mayan Calendar that on December 21, 2012 the world will simply end. The
basis of this theory is that the calendar does not go any further than this particular date.
The wonderful world of Hollywood and director Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Patriot) gives us
a glimpse into the question What If. A visually astounding movie with action that leaves you on the edge of
your seat. Riddled with humor and thought provoking questions, this film is one that will thrill you and leave
you asking: What If?

It's rare that a film comes along that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Disney hits a true gem clean
out of the park with OLD DOGS. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect with the pairing of Robin Williams and
John Travolta as a comedy team but it works!
picture courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures Robin and John play two best friends – one unlucky-in-love
divorcee (Robin Williams) and the other a fun loving bachelor (John Travolta) – have their lives turned
upside down when they're unexpectedly charged with the care of 7-year old twins while on the verge of the
biggest business deal of their lives.
The film also hosts Kelly Preston, Seth Green, Matt Dillon, Rita Wilson, and the late great Bernie Mac.
This is an excellent film and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to laugh good and hard.
